Bill entitled an Act to amend and consolidate the law relating to rights and remedies in contracts between traders and consumers for the sale of goods and the supply of digital content and digital and other services, including by giving effect to Directive (EU) 2019/770 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 20 May 2019 on certain aspects concerning contracts for the supply of digital content and digital services, Directive (EU) 2019/771 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 20 May 2019 on certain aspects concerning contracts for the sale of goods, amending Regulation (EU) 2017/2394 and Directive 2009/22/EC, and repealing Directive 1999/44/EC and Articles 1, 3 and 4 of Directive (EU) 2019/2161 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 November 2019 amending Council Directive 93/13/EEC and Directives 98/6/EC, 2005/29/EC and 2011/83/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council as regards the better enforcement and modernisation of Union consumer protection rules; to amend and consolidate the law relating to unfair terms in contracts between traders and consumers; to amend the Consumer Credit Act 1995 to make provision for rights and remedies in certain hire-purchase agreements and consumer-hire agreements; to amend section 12(13) of the Competition and Consumer Protection Act 2014; and to provide for related matters.
